How it works
- Inform is a technology solution that operates like a bureau of editors and journalists, helping your real editors work more efficiently. The technology “reads” millions of pages of content each day across multiple media formats. It understands context and learns how facts, words and ideas are related to each other. Then it creates links that result in rich, compelling Web pages that help media companies attract and retain readers – and revenue.

The Science of Taxonomy
- Inform’s technology works by applying next-generation semantic technology. Inform’s engine translates all forms of content into their common semantic “building blocks” – words and phrases that describe people, places and things. Then it systematically tags and scores the topics, industries, companies, organizations, people, places and products mentioned based on their level of relevance. Inform can:
-
- “Disambiguate” closely-related terms to create a single interpretation
- Identify new people or topics in the news on a continuous, real-time basis
- Create links between existing pages and new Topic Pages that reflect complex relationships (e.g. between “terrorism,” “Mideast,” “oil” and “price fluctuations”)
- Distinguish the differences between local, national and international entities and subjects
-
Inform Metadata vs. Keyword Tags
- Inform is unlike targeted advertising solutions, which rely on keywords or static taxonomies to relate ads and content. Content structured with Inform is contextually categorized; hence the difference between the country “Turkey” and the animal “turkey” is understood. The result is more relevant links and improved relational advertising – creating value for readers, not confusion.
